British Airways First Class Lounge at Heathrow – review
Being married to a hubby who travels alot has its advantages. For instance, I had the pleasure of experiencing British Airways first class lounge at Heathrow for the first time on the 26th May. Was it better than the business lounge? Yes, the champagne is drier amd more expensive and the wines likewise. The food, however, was a letdown. BA business lounges have always been known for their authentic curries but the chicken korma in First Class sucked big time!!! It tasted as if it was made from generic curry powder. The beef ribs were tender but tasteless. The cheese selection was of a lower quality than that in the business lounge.
Just when we thought that we’d have to go hungry, we discovered that it was possible to order food from the special menu which included items such as meze plate, Caesar salad, hoisin duck, gourmet beef burger, gnocchi with peas and rocket. Now we’re talking! I ordered hoisin duck in a sesame bun while hubby had the gourmet beef burger. Both were bland and lacking in seasoning!!! What was going on? BA shouldn’t be serving inedible food here?!
We got bumped up to First Class when boarding. Great, we thought! The food, however, again let us down. Yes, we compensated with the free champagne but in the end, we landed with empty stomachs!!!
BA may have a very good first class lounge at Heathrow but the food was very bad compare to business class!
Update 6/7/2012 : Hubby was here yesterday and being the optimist that he is, wanted to give BA another try so he ordered a chicken Caesar salad from the a la carte menu. INEDIBLE was the verdict! I say again : BA, wake up and smell the coffee, or in this case, wake up and taste your own food. It’s unacceptable! Or is it your intention that passengers should get drunk on the fine drinks as they can’t fill their tummies with inedible food?
