Peking mormors dumpleria

Dumplings places are springing up like mushrooms all over town and I thought it’s time to try some of them. It wasn’t a good first experience! :(

We were here yesterday to check out some dumplings. They have 2 locations and we went to the Drottninggatan location as it has better opening hours than the one at Östermalmstorg.

They have six different kinds of dumplings and also some curries as well as a few other dishes but we were there for the dumplings. One could mix it all up or just order one kind. We both ordered one of each kind and we were guessing what they were while eating them.

The lamb was very gamey with alot of cumin and coriander. The pork was distinguisable through the fennel but the others all tasted like one another – vegetables, fisk/seafood, chicken and one more that I can’t remember.

The sauce that came with the dumplings was good but it didn’t go with all the dumplings. The rice was flavourful. The dish costs 90 crowns so a bit steep!

I can’t really rate the service here as you order at the counter and then he brings it out to you but the guy was friendly enough.

It’s definitely not a place to take a date and I’d advise against doing take-out as I can’t imagine that the dumplings would taste good eaten at home.

The thing that really disappointed me was that one couldn’t distinguish the taste of each dumpling, ie. what it was I was eating whether it was vegetarian, fish or otherwise.

Rating:

Food:2.5/5 ★★½☆☆
Service:4.5/5 ★★★★½
Ambiance:4/5 ★★★★☆

Does anyone know of a good dumpling place? I want to keep faith and try all the dumpling places until I find a good one! :)

Peking Mormors Dumpleria, Drottninggatan 102 or Östermalmstorg, Stockholm
