Marie Laveau’s bar food – review
Marie Laveau was a personality in her hometown of New Orleans. Now her names lives on as a restaurant in trendy Södermalm where the food is Creole style. This is one of my fav restos in Stockholm. We’ve eaten in the dining room and the food and service was without fault. They have Happy Hour, from 5-7pm daily which can’t be beat either.
We were short of time last Thursday and in the neighbourhood and decided to sneak in here for a quick bite. The bar was packed at 7pm and we couldn’t get a table so bar food it was! I had the onion rings while hubby had the cheeseburger.
I was hoping that the onion rings would be breaded instead of in a batter but beggars can’t be choosers and I got battered rings instead. After the initial disappointment, I was very happy with my order because of the sauce – a smoky chipotle based mayo sauce that was just amazing!
Hubby was equal happy with his cheeseburger and declared it t0 be one of the best burgers he’s ever had, “on a par with Hell’s burgers” in Arlington, USA! This was indeed strong words and an unexpexted endorsement. I have to admit that I became hungrier and hungrier as I watched him munched away.
The prices were a bit steep for bar food but it was reflected in the quality. The rings were 65 crowns while the cheeseburger was a steep 139 crowns, and without fries!
The toilets are unisex and one of them was blocked. Be prepare to hold it in while you’re here!
Having said that, I’d gladly come back for some bar food. Good grubs is hard to find in this town!!!
