Napolyon – review

We were a party of 5 on a Monday evening and the resto was quite packed! We had a deal that I had booked way back when, 3 courses for 295kr which was a steal! The food was fantastic!

We started with the bread which the waitress brought over in a brown paper bag. I thought that it was funny that she was already giving us doggy bags to take home which hinted at the big portions to come. Nope, totally wrong. Inside this paper bag was some very delicious, fresh bread. The butter that came with was light and creamy!

I had the beef tartare as the app and it was amazing! Crunchy bits of onion with red beets and capers. The meat was very tender and well-seasoned. There was a raw egg yolk on top which added a bit of luxury to the dish! I devoured it! Round one checked and approved!

My main was the sweetbread which I have never had before! It came with celeriac disk and the sauce was nicely whizzed up so that it was bubbles of goodness. There were pickled onions on the side in a cute little glass jar! I inhaled this dish and wished for more sweetbread. Round two devoured and also approved!

I ordered the baba rhum because of the alcohol content. Unfortunately, I didn’t taste any alcohol at all but nevertheless, the dish was very nice although I didn’t understand the presence of the deep-fried slice of banana that looked like bacon. It didn’t add anything to the dish! On the other hand, the coconut icecream didn’t add anything to the dish either but this was an excellent icecream with pronounced flavour of coconut! I enjoyed this dessert but unfortunately, couldn’t finish it as the portion was too big. Round three totally approved but not all devoured!

All in all, we were all very pleased with the food as it was excellent! Unfortunately, there was only 1 wait staff (kudos to her for being so nice and patient with our questions) for the whole resto and we were kept waiting between courses. We were there at 6:30 and didn’t leave the resto until close to 10pm. Having said that, we all agreed to come back for the same deal and choose other dishes. Book your table, thru now as this is one deal that you shouldn’t miss!

The toilet was clean and was funky! It was like being in a movie theatre as the noise was from a movie playing and the walls were covered in movie icons. Totally cool!
