Juicing diet

I’ve been inspired by Joe Cross of Fat Sick and Nearly Dead fame to diet away the extra kilos after returning from my sabbatical in Vietnam. I started on Monday and so far, only 1 kilo down. My juice intake is 2 liters of juice, 1 liter of coconut water, 0.5L of orange juice and copious amounts of water.

Yesterday I had a bit of a headache around lunch and it continued until early evening. I was so tired that I crashed as soon as I got home, around 4p.m. I got the chills while in bed and I guess I was bed-ridden for the entire evening. I got up at 4a.m. to juice enough for the day.

Today, my 3rd day, I started feeling hungry around 1p.m. This was the first time I experienced hunger since I started the fast. It really surprised me because I was expecting to be hungry all the time. Not so!

I’ve discovered that I love kale juice and I absolutely hate celery in my juice. A few drops of lemon juice will do wonders for your juice. It really perks up the taste. Adding a few sprinkle of cayenne peppers also helps with the taste and makes it go down quicker and easier.

I basically make a kitchen sink juice and I don’t follow any recipes at all. I do make sure that my juice is about 80% vegetables and 20% fruits. I usually make a blend of 1 cucumber, 6 leaves of kale, 3 tomatoes, 6-7 carrots, and some Romaine lettuce leaves. For the fruits, I usually have apples or nectarines although melons are really tasty. Added to all that, a big knob of ginger and half a lemon. Voila!

I’ll let you know my daily progress. The goal is to lose 9kg and I don’t intend to stop until I reach that goal. The hardest thing so far is that I miss chewing food!
