O’Pizzicato – review
This is the second entry from Restaurant Week, Krogveckan 2017 (first entry was Carousel), and I’m glad to say that we had a good meal! The deal was 2 courses for 300kr with a choice of starter or dessert and a main.
The resto is quite cozy and has a great vibe! I was there early so I sat at the bar and enjoyed a glass of white wine. As I sat there, I noticed that the resto was almost full and everyone seemed to have a good time. The staff was very friendly and professional which I really appreciated.
Three of us had the carpaccio and this was excellent. Instead of the usual suspects – pine nuts and ruccola, there were thinly slices of Granny smith apples and the various greens were fine and I didn’t notice the absence of the ruccola. The beef was at room temperature, a feat that most restos get wrong since usually it’s refridgerator-cold or even frozen.
The olive oil for the bread was very special. It had a pronounced bitterness to it that was strangely addictive. I could’ve had this in a wine glass!
Again, three of us went for the osso bucco while the fourth chose the fish. His was ok. Our dishes were huge – 2 great slabs of meat on top of a pile of creamy saffran risotto. I found the risotto to be too cold and a bit too soft for my liking. The osso bucco was very good, especially the marrow but I found the meat to be a bit salty.
We really enjoyed ourselves here because the resto has such a great vibe. It was busy the whole evening we were there and there wasn’t a quiet table! Having said that, the acoustics were quite good so we could still have a decent discussion without shouting to each other.
The wines were very good and reasonably priced. I especially enjoyed my calvados!
The wait staff deserves a special mention here. They were very friendly but professional and catered to our every need. I’d definitely come back here!
Value for money: 5/5
