Thongwiset – review

Ever since I read the review for Thongwiset on Metro, I’ve been thinking about going there but never had a chance until now. And Boy, the wait was worth it!

We were a group of five on the lookout for cheap Thai food and we hit the jackpot! Every single dish that we ordered was met with a thumbs-up!!! I was feeling greedy so I shared three dishes with a friend – chicken laab, Penang shrimp curry, and kanan moograb or crispy pork belly with veg. The last dish was wow! I was drinking the sauce at the end! The pork belly was crispy and tender while the veg were still al dente but it was the sauce that was absolutely to-die-for! I would’ve been happy with this sauce only and some noodles.

The chicken laab had plenty of meat but the sauce was a bit lacking. I thought that I could do better.

The Penang shrimp curry was very good but it tasted like red curry to me. This didn’t detract it from being a perfect dish though as the sauce was delish!

For dessert, three of us chose to share the crispy pancake with icecream. They all inhaled the dish! Honestly, I’ve never seen such behaviour and this after having a full dinner ;-). It was so good that they ordered one more. And inhaled the dish even faster than the first time.

All in all, it was a great evening. Easy on the wallet and my tummy was in food heaven! Service was good and the vibe was of customers enjoying their food. A perfect meal!

I plan to come back here and try every dish on the menu!!! And order my own pancake next time! 😉
