Adria ristorante and bar – review

Because of the gastronomy festival, I’ve been eating out alot lately thanks to The Fork. I had read a wonderful about the resto on DN, but alas, it was great expectations that went un-met.

The resto is beautiful and cozy. I love the yellow and blue hues of the walls which extend to the blue ceiling.

The first waiter was very attentive and answered all our questions patiently.

The bread basket came with some bread sticks and some bread. The bread sticks were light-as-a-feather and the bread very fresh. I asked if they were made in-house and the answer was yes. The olive oil that came with was slightly bitter which I enjoyed.

I shared the beef tartar and this was perfect. I only wished that I had the whole portion to myself! The crispy cheese, the tender beef, the capers, and other stuff that I couldn’t identify all melded into one perfect plate of food! Hurray!

Alas, the mains let us down. One of our party ordered the pasta and the portion was tiny! I had the homemade salciccia, which by the way DN raved about, was only so-so. The sauce was ok. There was way too many potatoes on my plate.

I had a taste of a friend’s seafood risotto and again, this was ok. Nothing to write home about. I couldn’t understand why they would drizzle the squid ink instead of incorporating it into the rice. Too much playing with the food I suspect.

Because we weren’t full after our mains, we all decided to get dessert. Thank God the dip encountered during the main disappeared when the desserts appeared.

I had ordered the mint chocolate fondant and it came out perfectly gooey inside. Nice. Unfortunately, I couldn’t taste the mint anywhere but it was all right.

The service was very good in the beginning and then it faded into almost non-existent. Our cutlery from the starter weren’t replaced so I had to lick them clean. We had to wait a while to order our desserts and the water glasses weren’t filled as regularly as I would’ve liked.

Since the resto has higher prices than normal, I expected more. Unfortunately, my expectations weren’t met. I wouldn’t come back here. I don’t mind paying more but I want to feel full after consuming the main. Thank God I only had to pay 50% of the food cost!

Food: 3.5/5
