La Madrina – review
Gastronomy festival continues! 50% off food items! La Madrina serves cicchetti or tapas downstairs and upstairs is a small dining room. We ate upstairs and it was hot there! I thought I was going thru menopaus towards the end of the meal after sitting there sweating it out!
The server was very friendly but unfortunately, he had to take care of the whole dining room which meant that the wait was too long.
We started with the calamari fritti, mangiatutto and carpaccio. The last mentioned was ok. It ticked all the boxes in terms of ingredients which made it boring as there was no aha moment. The mangiatutto or fried small fish was very nice but the best was the calamari which was very lightly breaded and they were tender morsels of yumminess!
For the main, I chose the linguine Costa Smeralda and this was the best seafood pasta I’ve had in Stockholm! The shrimps were gigantic, perfectly cooked, as were the clams and mussels. The pasta was al dente, as it should be! I especially loved the bottarga, or grated sundried mullet roe. This added that extra something to the dish and made it extraordinary!
The noise level in the dining room was very loud and as the tables were very close together, I could hear our neighbor’s conversation which wasn’t ideal!
In spite of the negatives, the food was excellent so I’d definitely come back and pay full price to taste the linguine and calamari again. The prices and portions were fair.
Value for money: 4.5/5
