We recently made this for a potluck and it was a big hit! They’re very addictive and hard to stop eating once you start.

I found this recipe at Allrecipes and tweaked it a bit!

  • 2 egg whites
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 500gr whole almonds
  • 250mL white sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 140 degrees Celsius. Line a baking sheet with baking paper.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg white and water until frothy.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, mix together sugar, salt, cinnamon and cloves. Transfer the sugar mixture to a 3L plastic bag.

Step 4

Add the almonds to the egg mixture and stir to coat the nuts evenly.

Step 5

Remove the almonds from the wet mixture and put them in the sugar bag. Shake the bag until the nuts are coated with the sugar mixture.

Step 6

Remove the nuts from the sugar bag shaking off the excess sugar as much as possible and placed on the lined baking sheet.

Step 7

Bake at 140 degrees Celsius for about 1 hour. Stir after 30 minutes.

Step 8

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for about 30 minutes. Go nuts! :D
