Pecan nut bread

The recipe is courtesy of Hubby. He’s the bread maker and carb eater in this household 🙂

He likes to bake bread and this is his best yet! It’s light, airy and the pecans add another dimension to the bread. You can substitute walnuts for the pecans.

The Kitchen Aid is man’s best friend according to Hubby. He uses it regularly to make bread and will invent any excuse to use it!

Ingredients

  • 600ml warm water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 packet of fresh yeast
  • 1.5L strong flour
  • 50ml vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 200-300ml pecans

Method

Step 1

Crumble the yeast in the warm water with sugar. Let stand until bubbles appear

Step 2

Add the rest of the ingredients and mix for 10 minutes (preferably in the Kitchen Aid) until the dough comes together

Step 3

Let rise in the same bowl until it has doubled in size

Step 4

Divide into 2 pieces and shape into loaf pans

Step 5

Allow to proof in the loaf pans for about an hour

Step 6

Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius for 40 minutes or until golden brown

Step 7

Turn out of the pans and allow to rest at room temperature for about 15 minutes before serving.
