Sous vide carrots2014-05-12
I wrote in the previous post about our new sous vide toy. This time I’ll be extolling the virtues of sous vide veg, in particular carrots. I’m not a big fan of veg but I could become a fan eating sous vide vegetables. We tried our hands at cooking carrots in the water bath and the result was absolutely amazing! I’ve never eaten carrots with this much flavour. The sugar content seems to have multiplied ten folds and it was almost like eating candy, I kid you not!
- 3-4 carrots, cut into thick sticks
- dash of salt and pepper
Heat up the water in the water bath to 85 degrees Celsius.
Season the carrots with a pinch of salt and pepper
Vacuum pack the carrots.
Cook in the sous vide for 1 hour.
Saute the carrots with 1 teaspoon of butter to add some colour.
